Apostolos Stylianopoulos and Marta Fortes Vilaltella, the passionate owners of Atlantis Dive Center, embody our dedication to creating unforgettable underwater adventures.

Apostolos Stylianopoulos

Instructor

With a remarkable 25 years of experience on this picturesque island, Apostolos possesses an intimate knowledge of Santorini’s hidden treasures both above and below the surface. As an IDC PADI Staff Instructor, SSI Assistant Instructor Trainer, and Greece’s first Cousteau Diver Instructor, Apostolos has cemented his reputation in the diving world. Furthermore, his expertise extends beyond diving, as he also conciliate this activity with his School for Speedboat Captains in Santorini, as the trainer Instructor.

Marta is a recreational diver and shares Apostolos’s passion for the sea. She has a background in Education Field, with two Degrees, one in Primary School Teaching and the other in Psicopedagogy, as well as three Masters, including a specialization in Emotional Intelligence, Marta brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her work.

 Verified Supervision and organization at the top!
Small structure with exceptional framing. Experienced organization and very Ace and attentive supervision. We have been divers for 20 years, on Oia for 4 days, we decided late to dive. The loaned material was of good quality and size, full suit 5mm and slippers (I am chilly) We enjoyed the dive 2 morning tanks with 2 frames (instructor and dive master) allowing the least air greedy to extend the supervised dive. Few fish how often in Greece but breathtaking and unexpected underwater landscapes. I highly recommend this structure

It has been great. Marta makes you feel at home from the beginning, she treats you in a very personal way and she liste to the custom. The instructors and dive master they are awesome too, they pay a lot of attention to the divers and make you feel calm and comfortable. The lava veins dive site is awesome. Apo and his team are top notch. They are well prepared for you, their equipment is very good and all prepped for you when you arrive. We had two dives - one next to their center in Armeni bay and another at a spot called Lava Vein - both very good dives, the visibility is excellent. Omar, the dive master, Eugene and Apo (who we renamed Aquaman) were so helpful before, during and after the dive. It was a windy day and they choose dive spots which were calm so we could enjoy our dives. A quick drive down from the dive shop to Anmoudi bay, which is a tourist spot that you can check off as a result and you are done with your dives in a few hours and can go back and enjoy the rest of Santorini. App’s wife runs the office and is the sweetest person ever!

Very friendly Team. I did book two dives (half day trip) on two different dive locations. They asked me for my certification upon arrival and we did a pre-dive briefing on the boat before going to the water. The instructors and divemaster were friendly and professional, regularly checking our level of air, doing the safety stops etc. They took care of everything (prepared the material and helped us get equipped). They had fresh water and snacks in between the two dives and the surface interval were respected. The underwater scenery was spectacular (Incredible drop off at Atlantis Steps) and there were some Octopus, Lion Fish, Barracudas, gruppers. Don’t forget though that this is the Mediterranean Sea and not the Indian Ocean. Would dive with them again.

Had a fantastic time diving (intro/beginner level) and snorkelling with our two teenagers. We added on a boat trip as well - the staff were great, experienced & professional but also relaxed and chill. They catered to our specific needs as a family group, all in all a fantastic experience.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

01. Do I need previous experience to dive in Santorini?

No previous experience is requiered! We teach you from the basics of diving. A qualified instructor will guide you to enjoy your first dive safetly.

02. Do I need special phisycal condition to dive?

Refering to health and fitness condition, we can say that a normal healthy person can dive without having special fit situation. Regarding to dessease and medication problems we redirect you to the DAN (Dive Alert Network) website: http://www.diversalertnetwork.org/medical/faq/ where you can find all the answers regarding to health and diving

03. Can I dive wearing contact lenses?

If you are use to use contact lenses while doing water sports, diving is not much different, just that with the mask you won’t be able to rub your eyes to fix the contact lenses in case it moves.

Here some advices:

If you flood your mask make sure you keep your eyes colsed not to lose the lenses.

If you are a usual diver a very good alternative is to fix your own prescripted mask. There are very reasonably-priced masks. We can order it for you, all we need is a good prescription from your optometrist and we can have it ready for when you come to dive in Santorini. Contact us (link) for info about prices and timing.

04. How old can a child try scuba diving?

At 8 years old children can try scuba diving “Bubble maker” in shallow and confined water. From 10 years old they can be certified.

05. How is the water visibility in Santorini?

In Santorini we use to have very good water visibility, about 30metres.

06. Are there currents?

In Santorini we don’t use to have strong currents, the water conditions are very good for new divers.
